SEARHC to honor Frank Sutton’s 40 years of service

September 11 2011

The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) will celebrate recently retired Chief Operating Officer (COO) Frank Sutton’s 40 years of dedication and service by hosting a community celebration from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, at Harrigan Centennial Hall. Sutton, who was given the Tlingít name S’áxt’ Hít S’aatí (Boss of the House of Medicine), retired on Aug. 5. He arrived at S’áxt’ Hít Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital as a young pharmacist in 1971, and over the years advanced through the hospital’s administration to become SEARHC’s COO in 2009, where he supervised the consortium’s operations in all of its 18 tribal communities. The celebration on Sept. 22 will feature a dinner prepared by SEARHC Litehouse Catering, a Native dance performance by the Noow Tlein Dancers, special guests, an open microphone where people can share their stories and a special presentation to Sutton. A similar celebration was held in Juneau on Aug. 25. For more information, contact Connie Goldhahn at 966-8629 or connie.goldhahn@searhc.org.
