SEARHC Juneau Behavioral Health hires Gary Weglarz

The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Juneau Behavioral Health Clinic recently hired Gary M. Weglarz, LCSW, CDC-1, as a behavioral health clinician. Weglarz earned a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in mental health from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich. He is certified as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker by the Alaska Board of Social Work Examiners, and as a Chemical Dependency Counselor-1 by the Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification. Prior to joining the SEARHC Juneau Behavioral Health Clinic, Weglarz worked as a behavioral health clinician with the North Slope Borough in Barrow and with Chugachmiut Inc. in Port Graham. He also worked in hospice care and with veterans in Montana. “We are very glad to have Gary on board as part of the SEARHC Behavioral Health Team,” said Melody Price-Yonts, SEARHC Behavioral Health Division Director. “We welcome his experience and skill set, he is a great addition.” Weglarz’s medical interests include trauma healing, substance abuse recovery, culture and healing, and working with grief and loss. His personal interests include fly fishing, guitar (Brazilian music), hiking, canoeing/kayaking, cross-country skiing and reading. “I am happy to be working in an organization dedicated to holistic culturally based healing,” Weglarz said. “I am very appreciative of the opportunity to become a part of the SEARHC community.”
