SITKA — The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Injury Prevention department is offering coupons for $7 ice cleats to our elders.
It’s that time of year when ice and snow and ice can make walkways slippery, especially when it may not be visible or in well-lit areas. SEARHC’s Injury Prevention team wants to let everyone know that taking precautions does not mean avoiding walking outdoors when there is a simple preventative measure that can be taken.
In partnership with the Sitka Fire Department, SEARHC is providing ice cleat coupons to help with foot traction for those ages 65 and over. Ice cleats priced at $25.00 or less can now be purchased with the coupon from participating stores (Orion’s Sporting Goods, Russell’s or Work & Rugged Gear Store) for $7.00.
You may pick up a coupon at the Sitka Fire Department at 209 Lake Street, Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Social Services department, Security or Physical Therapy at 222 Tongass Drive. The offer is available through December 24th and limited to stock on hand.
SEARHC Injury Prevention hopes you have a safe and joyful holiday season.
