January 19 2010In honor of National Children’s Dental Health Month, the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Juneau Dental Clinic is hosting a children’s dental health fair on Tuesday, Feb. 23. The dental health fair takes place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the SEARHC Juneau Dental Clinic, 3245 Hospital Drive. The fair is free and is geared for children ages 5 or younger. Refreshments will be provided, and all participating children will receive a toothbrush and other goodies. Dudley the Dinosaur also plans to make an appearance. This year is the 61st anniversary of National Children’s Dental Health Month, which is an event designed to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums, according to the American Dental Association. During the children’s dental health fair, kids will be given dental chair rides, will learn how to take care of their teeth, see a skit, play games, color their snack bags and do other fun activities to learn about good oral health.
