The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Behavioral Health Division is pleased to announce the hiring of Steve Guevara, Psy.D., as a behavioral health clinician at the SEARHC Behavioral Health Office in Craig.

Steve will work with the SEARHC Community Family Services program and will complement the services provided by the behavioral health clinicians at the SEARHC Alicia Roberts Medical Center in Klawock. The SEARHC Behavioral Health Office in Craig is located in the Thibodeau Mall and can be reached at 826-2101.

“We are very excited to welcome Steve Guevara as the new behavioral health clinician in the Craig office,” said Janice Hamrick, LCSW, BHP, SEARHC Community Family Services Program Manager. “His arrival provides greater access and more ease for people living in Craig, as they no longer have to travel to Klawock for behavioral health services. Steve brings lots of experience, especially in working with youth and families, which is very exciting.”

Steve earned a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology/Argosy University campus in Chicago. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Steve completed his internship and post-doctoral training with the Institute for Child and Family Health in Miami, Fla. He also completed a practicum with the Family Service and Mental Health Center of Cicero, Ill., while he was studying for his doctorate. Steve’s health interests include neuropsychology, psychoanalysis and child/family psychology. He enjoys swimming, playing tennis and the great outdoors.

“SEARHC seems to be a great opportunity to develop new programs, such as parenting groups, substance abuse/addiction, and focus on improving family communications/relations,” Steve said.
