Environmental Services Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide administration, budgetary, financial, planning, all aspects of Human Resources including tracking of Operating System 1 (OS1) competencies, planning and implementation of housekeeping and laundry services for the SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital and adjacent buildings. Sets annual goals for department. Must understand supervision of employees, payroll, scheduling of staff, the procurement process, Federal and state laws such as fire and life safety, Occupational Health and Safety Administration, the Environmental Services Department?s part in emergency management during hospital emergencies, the Joint Commission, unusual event reporting, employee safety and security, regulated medical waste, reports sentinel events, storage of hazardous materials, Infection prevention and control, and must understand complex department manuals and the interdisciplinary manual. BASELINE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Proficient with a personal computer (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point and e-mail preferred). Knowledge of management techniques including reporting, budgeting, internal controls, Human Resources, procurement, supervision, all aspects of Human Resources, Joint Commission standards and experience with (OS1) cleaning. Preferred five years progressive experience in supervisory housekeeping or management. Must have knowledge of infection prevention and control, universal precautions, and standard precautions. Must have a knowledge of office procedures including work orders maintenance & ES requisitions, payroll, Must have a knowledge of how to handle emergencies, security, fire alarm, vandalism and graffiti. Must have a knowledge of contents of SEARHC Safety Manual including material safety data sheets (MSDS) , blood borne pathogens, health codes and risk management. Must possess good people skills and be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing with a variety of people in a diverse workplace.
