POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to provide individual supportive counseling, prevention and administrative services at an intermediate level to individuals, families and groups impacted by a variety of mental health and substance use issues. This position is in Community Health Services, Behavioral Health Division, located in one of the communities served by the CFS program.
BASELINE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED.
A total of at least 270 training hours in behavioral health are required.
What type of work experience is required and what are the minimum number of months or years required to satisfactorily perform in this position?
Three years full-time chemical dependency work experience, up to one year may be substituted through a B.S./B.A. degree in a field of human services.
Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification (ACBHC) Chemical Dependency.
Counselor I (CDCI) or its equivalent from another entity or eligible for Chemical Dependency.
Counselor I (CDCI) certification at time of original hire.
A supervised practicum of 300 hours in the field of chemical dependency services is required.
21 years of age or older.
A valid Alaska driver?s license is preferred.
Commitment to live in village/service area or be able to commute to the location for 3 to 5 years.
Ability to attend continuing education /training programs in Sitka or elsewhere for about 3 weeks per year to meet certification requirements.
