SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Pharmacy provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services from its 1,300 square foot facility in the hospital. The pharmacy staff includes a chief pharmacist, deputy chief pharmacist, six staff pharmacists and four technicians. The staff coverage is spread over several different shifts. Several of our pharmacists are Commissioned Officers in the Public Health Service, assigned to Indian Health Services.

In-house pharmacy support is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. Student externs generally work weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Outpatient service hours are more limited. An on-call pharmacist is available via cell phone/pager during hours the pharmacy is closed.

We provide inpatient and outpatient services based on the Pharmaceutical Care Model. Drug information resources include extensive computerized databases such as MicroMedex, UpToDate and electronic access to Medline and recent editions of major pharmaceutical references.

For calendar year 2004, the pharmacy filled approximately 52,000 outpatient prescriptions, delivered 50,000 unit dose medications to inpatients, 17,000 IV solutions, and 400 chemotherapeutic preparations for outpatient treatments.
